Farnborough Supporters FC

About us

Farnborough Supporters FC (FSFC) is a football side made up of Farnborough FC who play games against similar 'fans' sides throughout the football year. From teenagers to players into their forties the side has represented the club up and down the country in recent years.

FSFC primarily compete in the national IFA League, which is made up of English, Scottish and Welsh supporters side but also plays friendlies with supporters sides not in the IFA.
The team has had great success in recent years and is well established as one of the top non-league supporters teams in the country.

The team normally plays on Saturday morning arranging games to (mostly) fit around where Farnborough FC are playing. In the Conference this was often the supporters of the club the first team would be playing in the afternoon. These days see's Farnborough often taking on the likes of Fulham, Southampton, West Ham and Preston!

For the past four years the team has hosted a supporters tournament at Cherrywood Road where Farnborough take on old friends from the likes of Stevenage, Aldershot, Woking and Barnet. The event had proved to be highly popular and raised large amounts for the Supporters Trust.

The Supporters team has also seen some memorable names playing. Michael Charles and Nic Ciardini are both graduates of the team that have gone on to play for the Farnborough first team (Farnborough Youth also claim some credit for their development). We have also had Tony Theo turn out (and score) and even ex-local reporter Jon Couch played.

FSFC is open to any Farnborough fan of any ability and age (usually from 14+). You just need to enjoy playing football and having a laugh. Supporters games are normally played in tremendous spirit by both sides.

History

The modern supporters team was formed in 2003 and played their first ever game away to recently relegated Shrewsbury Town on 23rd August 2003. This opening game proved to be highly enjoyable despite losing 4-2.

The first supporters team line-up

The team went from strength to strength playing many games against fellow Conference sides home and away.

The 2004/05 season saw Farnborough join the IFA and started to increase the range of opposition they took on. This included taking on Rotherham United away from home when the Farnborough Town first team played Halifax away from home!

With Farnborough Town relegated to the Conference South in 2005 the number of opposition sides in the league almost dried up and Farnborough stepped up their involvement in the IFA League. In the 2005/06 season Farnborough finished the highest placed non-league side in the competition.

The end of the 2005/06 season also saw Farnborough travel to Leeds for their first WorldNET event to take part in a weekend competition against dozens of other supporters sides. The Saturday group competition proved to be highly successful as the Farnborough Town team became the first non-league side to qualify for the main Cup competition on the Sunday.

2006/07 saw Farnborough Town's must successful season so far. Playing the maximum 20 league games over the season Farnborough finished the season in the top ten of the league (made up of 70+ sides). To cap it off Farnborough reached the quarter finals of the IFA Cup after putting out very highly fancied QPR and Millwall sides. In the semi-finals they took on visitors Sheffield United and two late goals from Farnborough earnt the home side a draw but ultimately went out on penalties.

23rd December 2006 - Farnborough Town 2 Millwall 0 - IFA Cup and League

WorldNET 2007 wasn't quite as successful as an opening win against Everton was followed by defeats by Sports Interactive and Manchester United to leave Farnborough in the Plate competition where the weekend was brought to an end after a 4-2 loss against Barnsley.
