| Bedford Town v Farnborough - Preview |
|
Boro enter February, eleven points clear at the summit of the Zamaretto League Premier Division having come through the month of January unbeaten in the League. Seven League matches in the month of February now face Boro, commencing with a visit to 18th placed Bedford Town at The Eyrie, this evening. The two sides are yet to face each other this season, with cup matches and poor weather having scuppered previous fixtures. All of the top five in the table are in action this evening, second placed Brackley Town hosting Truro City, Cambridge City currently holding 3rd spot travelling to the West Midlands to take on Stourbridge and 5th placed Bashley taking home advantage against Nuneaton Town, one spot above them in the placings. Bedford haven't recorded a league win since the 3-2 home win over Hednesford in the middle of December, and having shipped 9 goals in two matches either side of the New Year, have steadied the ship with back to back draws against Didcot & Halesowen. With no injury worries from the squad which recorded a 2-1 victory at home to Tiverton on Saturday, it is expected that Boro boss Steve King will field an unchanged squad, but as always he plays his cards very close to his chest. Despite the lowly league position of the opponents, King knows it is not a foregone conclusion " Bedford have beaten Nuneaton and Hednesford at home, and also taken points off of Halesowen and Brackley so we know that its not going to be an easy ride their tonight." ![]() King has also confirmed the departure of midfielder Sylvain, who cancelled his contract by mutual consent at the weekend "Sylvain is a nice fella and a very good footballer, and in any other team at this level would be playing week in week out, the form of the midfield trio has restricted his opportunities, we had an honest chat at the weekend and have decided this is the best outcome for both parties, I would like to thank him for his contribution during his time with us, and to wiah him all the very best." Kick off at The Eyrie is at 7.45pm Admission Prices Adults - £9 Concessions - £6 10-12 years - £2 Under 10's - Free |
