Farnborough Football Club Chairman Simon Gardener ‘Garbo’ has a new message for our fantastic supporters.
Dear All Farnborough Football Club supporters and your families,
It has been around four weeks now since the terrible Coronavirus (COVID-19) disrupted not only football but our entire way of life. I just wanted to take the opportunity to send everyone a message and let you know our thoughts are with you and your families during this troubled time.
Our thoughts are also with the NHS and the people who are working through this to keep the country going. I can’t say enough times what a great job they are doing and they have all our love and respect.
The UK Government have set measures as we all battle this pandemic and it’s important that everyone play their part and follows the guidelines.
- Stay home unless essential
- Stay 2m from others
- Wash your hands
- Call people and keep in touch.
We will see you at a game again but when that might be is another question. We respect The Southern League’s decision to bring this season to a close, they are in an impossible situation and have to put the health of players, staff and fans first.
Season 2019/2020 finished early with 12 games left to play and with us placed twelve after back to back 4-0 wins against Taunton and Yate Town. I strongly believe that Spencer and the squad would have pushed close to a play-off position. The main objective now is for everyone to stay safe, look after their families. Football Will Return.
As you all know, during the season a true Farnborough Football Club Legend Roger Peirce made the decision to stand down as kit manager after over 20 years of service to the club. Roger was very much an important member of the dressing room, making sure when we played away everything was there ready for when the players and management arrived.
Roger is well respected throughout the footballing community and will be a tough act to follow. Once football returns the club will arrange a Testimonial for Roger to show their appreciation for all his hard work over the years.
As Chairman I thought it was only right to give you an update regarding the Club’s situation as we follow the Government business guidelines. With all football suspended and the closure of our clubhouse our main source of revenue for the Club simply isn’t there. Times ahead are going to be challenging for all, businesses, football clubs and families in fact the whole community.
The Directors at Farnborough Football Club will continue to work hard and look at every option during this time of uncertainty to ensure when football returns, we as a Club are ready for the next game. The Stadium still needs to be maintained and kept clean and tidy and above all safe for when the visiting clubs and everyone return to either watch football or use the clubhouse bars. This football club operates within a sensible business plan and will not spend money we don’t have.
We have set up a GoFundMe page where we give you a few options:
- Buy a match day ticket for the first game of next season
- Buy a season ticket now for next season
- Make a donation big or small.
Every single penny will make a difference.
I would like to thank the number of supporters that have already taken up the option to purchase a season ticket for the new season and also the kind supporters that have made donations on the GoFundMe page.
Please please stay safe, look after your family members and the elderly together. We will get through this.
