Farnborough Football Club announces the signings of Brendan Murphy-McVey (Staines Town), Jay Gasson (dual-registered with Kingstonian) and Ibby Akanbi.

Manager, Spencer Day provides the following update ahead of Saturday’s home game with Merthyr Town.

“We’ve had a decent start to the season but injuries and unavailability have meant we can announce the following…

Brendan Murphy-McVey has joined from Staines Town after a 7-day approach and subject to paperwork.

Brendan I was close to signing in pre-season but it didn’t quite happen. He’s an exciting midfielder that has had rave reviews and is a different type of midfielder to what we have.

Jay Gasson has dual-registered with Kingstonian.

Jay is helping us out short-term due to our injury and unavailability list and I’m grateful to him and Leigh [Dynan] at Kingstonian. I’m sure a lot of Boro fans will be pleased to see Gas back in yellow and blue! I tried to sign him in the summer but distance sadly stopped a permanent agreement.

Ibby Akanbi has signed as a free agent.

Ibby has come to try and earn a deal. He’s an exciting winger/striker and will be a good boost to the squad.

Zach Fagan remains injured, whilst Connor Cullen is away this weekend and Bradley Simms is away for a couple of weeks on compassionate leave.

We also have a number of knocks so the timing of these additions is important with a double header this weekend and Weymouth next Saturday.

I can also announce that Jack Barton is leaving Boro. Jack wants to be playing and with work commitments can’t see the opportunities here.

He’s been a fantastic lad to have around and had a great season in our promotion year the season before last. We wish Jack all the very best in his professional and football career and thank him for all his time at Boro.

Once the injuries and availabilities settle down in a few weeks we can get the squad settled and I’m sure push on and will update the supporters in due course.”
