Boro’s losing streak continues

By Erick Jupp

Boro’ suffered another defeat after being narrowly edged out by Kings Langley 1-0 at home in some bad conditions.

The pitch passed the inspection half an hour before the game, however, it still proved to be an influencing factor in the match-up.

Boro’ started the brighter of the two sides, both teams struggled with the wet pitch conditions and couldn’t really create any chances and open up the other team.

The first main chance came in the 20th minute after a good move by Boro’ ended up with Michael Fernandes having a long range effort on goal, but it was saved by Alex Tokarczyk in the Kings Langley goal.

Three minutes later, the away side had a good chance to open the scoring. Mitchell Weiss drove into the box but dragged his shot just wide of the Boro’ goal.

In the 25th minute, Sam Mason was called into action to make an important stop to deny Steve Ward from breaking the deadlock.

Mason was needed again six minutes later when a long kick from Tokarczyk played Weiss through on goal, he tried going around the Boro’ keeper, but he stuck out a strong hand to grab the ball off his feet.

The remainder of the half saw very little action and the game headed into the break 0-0.

Kings Langley opened the scoring in the 61st minute when Boro’ got caught on the break and the move was finished off by a fine strike by Luke Wade-Slater from just inside the box. Farnborough 0-1 Kings Langley.

Boro’ needed to get a response but the game settled down again, with the next real chance falling to Kings Langley in the 85th minute. Weiss made some space in the box and his shot came just short of the goal, with the pitch slowing the ball down. Rene Howe then couldn’t get to the loose ball and convert it into the net as Michael Kamara was there to clear the danger.

Boro’ had a great chance to get the equaliser late on in the 93rd minute. After a scramble in the Kings Langley box from a Boro’ corner, the ball fell to Pat Cox but his effort was just over the bar.
