As we have our first home Friendly tomorrow when we welcome National League South Hampton & Richmond Borough, Manager Spencer Day gives the following update.
Luke Robertson arrives from Metropolitan Police. A defensive midfielder who has come through to the First Team and been one of their outstanding players last season. I watched him a number of times and was greatly impressed, especially as he’s still young.
Liam Enver-Marum agreed terms before Pre-Season to join us and showed his desire to come to Boro throughout. A striker with bags of experience including at League clubs.
Adam Pepera a tall commanding centre-half that started last season as Chesham’s skipper, before moving to Harrow Borrough. Adam will give us strength and organisation in an area we know we must dramatically improve this season.
Kurtis Cumberbatch, an all round central midfielder, has signed a contract and was one of last season hottest properties at Step 3 with plenty of League interest in signing him, so I’m delighted he’s agreed to come to Boro.
Day concluded: “I still have three or four ‘trialists’ at the club and one or two ongoing discussions however we will be cutting the squad in due course.
“The opening games have really been all about fitness and no injuries but there is a dramatic increase in level we now face in the next four Friendlies which will give me a better feel as to where we are and where we need further strengthen.
“We have been working hard since the season ended to bring in the right players to push the side forward this season and still keep on budget so I’m grateful to the lads that have come that could have gone to other clubs for more money but have bought into what we are trying to achieve.
“With higher clubs now also assessing their squads a number of other may yet still become available and I’m glad we have decent competition throughout most positions.”
