Getting to the Black Gold Stadium (courtesy of www.pooletownfc.co.uk)
The best route to the Black Gold depends on the season. At the start of the season in August and September, traffic can be very heavy on Saturdays and Bank Holidays.
If approaching from the London/Southampton direction, during the holiday season it is probably best to approach Poole through Bournemouth. Leave the A31 just after Ringwood and take the A338 to Bournemouth. Outside of the holiday season, carry on along the A31. Sat Navs often send people through Ferndown but that way is always congested. Follow the A31 to Merley then follow the A341. Keep strisght on as the A341 becomes the A349. Follow the A349 for a few miles to thye Fleets roundabout and take the third exit onto onto Fleets Lane. Fleets Lane eventually becomes Stanley Green Road. Turn left into Palmer Road then right into School Lane and the car park.
If arriving from the West or South West, leave the A35 towards Poole Town centre at the Fire Station roundabout. then turn left towards Poole on Holes Bay Road. Take the first exit at the next roundabout onto Broadstone Way. Turn left at the traffic lights into Willis Way. At the end of Willis Way, turn left onto Fleets Lane. Fleets Lane eventually becomes Stanley Green Road. Turn left into Palmer Road then right into School Lane and the car park.
Please be aware that a section of the M27 will be closed from Friday 28 September to Monday 1 October, to allow work to commence to replace the bridge which carries the A3057 Romsey Road over the motorway.
Read more here and be sure to plan your journey.
Parking is free in the School Lane car park and on match days overflow parking is also available at the industrial area opposite the stadium in Stanley Green Road.
Poole railway station is a short walk (10 mins) from the Black Gold Stadium.
If arriving from the London/Bournemouth direction, leave the station on Holes Bay side (you will see the water and the Travelodge hotel). Turn left out of the station and walk along to the first set of traffic lights. Bear right into Sterte Road. Follow Sterte Road until you reach the hump backed railway bridge. Cross the bridge and the stadium is almost straight ahead.
If arriving from the West (Weymouth/Dorchester) you can either cross the footbridge and use the directions above or walk along Serpentine Road until you reach the three cornered Barclays building. Turn left along Wimborne Road. Keep walking until you reach the Co-operative convenience shop. Turn left into Tatnam Road. Walk along Tatnam Road until you see Well Lane on your right. Follow well Lane and you will find the turnstiles.
The Black Gold Stadium is situated next to Oakdale Junior School. There are two main entrances, Well Lane and the junction of Tatnam Road and Stanley Green Road.
The Well Lane Entrance can be accessed from the Car Park* in School Lane as well as from Well Lane itself. When a large crowd is expected or where segregation is advised, there will also be a further two turnstiles open further along Stanley Green Road.
