With a blank weekend, Manager Spencer Day updates supporters with the latest squad position.
“With hopefully the worst of our injury/suspension and unavailabilities behind us, I have had to look at balancing the squad in both numbers and budget as well as being fair to players therefore I can announce the following:
Jack Smith has been released from the Club. Jack has found himself behind a number of centre halfs and with Huggins and Saville soon to be re available and the emergence of Hammond and Emmerson as cover never mind CJ Fearn his opportunities for game time look limited. Jack is a fantastic lad but at his age needs to be playing and I intend keeping a close eye on him for the future and wish him all the best.
Ethan Allen has joined Fleet Town to gain experience at Step 4. We have a great relationship with our neighbours and their manager and Ethan has a big future with us but at this stage of his career this is a good short term move for him.
Chris Regis has been released. No one doubts Chris talent but as is common when players come out of the Football League it takes a lot to adapt and with players returning for selection I’ve made the decision that Chris should look elsewhere for gametime and wish him the best.
The loans for Jake Evans and Dan Walker are currently due to end and I am in negotiations with both clubs in order to secure the players and am hopeful due to our relationship with their parent clubs.
The game by game basis of Glen Southern and Liam Bellamy (who picked up an ankle injury at Gosport and is expected to be unavailable for a few games) continues to be assessed for the benefit of all parties.
Matt Bunyan‘s work position has changed due to a colleagues serious accident which requires Matt to cover time where he would have been travelling and playing for Boro. Both the club and I hope to end a resolution but clearly his school has to be his priority and it is expected we won’t see much of Matt before Xmas time and he may keep fit by playing occasionally at a more local club with less time commitment for travelling. It’s a big shame but we hope to see Matt back later this season.
Patrik Ruzicka has also joined Fleet Town on loan in order to get regular game time.
Aiden Upward often duel registers with Cove to get game time when not required as First Team cover.
On the injury front, CJ Fearn is awaiting the results of a scan but Jack Saville is due to return to training this week. Kieron Forbes has returned to competitive action as well as Connor Calcutt and their sharpness will only improve in the coming weeks.
Liam Stone has been off sick for the last two weeks and is then away and its therefore been decided that he will seek First Team football elsewhere and again we wish him well.
It’s been one of the most unsettled periods known to me at the start of a season but there seems light at last at the end of the tunnel and six points out of six last week certainly helped!
Enjoy the Saturday off and if we don’t see you at Fleet on Tuesday we look forward to welcoming you back to Cherrywood Road next Saturday where we hope to get our home form up and running.”
