Farnborough welcome a familiar foe in Royston Town for our first Home game of the Evo-Stik League South Premier Season on Wednesday evening.

Boro’ began life back in the Southern Premier with a 1-0 win at St Neots Town at the weekend. Nic Ciardini’s First Half strike saw Farnborough take three points in their first game of the new Season.

Having got three points on the board from their first test, Farnborough will be looking to make it two wins from as many games at their first Home game of the League Season.

The Yellows haven’t lost a League game at The Rushmoor Community Stadium since Marlow inflicted a 3-0 defeat on 25 February and since then Boro’ went six games unbeaten at Home in a run which saw Play-Off success last Season.

Speaking on Wednesday’s opponents, Manager, Spencer Day said: “We welcome last season’s champions that were promoted with us. I had my suspicions we would be playing each other early on and we certainly know a lot about each other!

“Royston suffered a home defeat at home on opening day and will certainly want to get the season going tonight. I’m expecting them to have another very good season and to be pushing for another promotion so we will have to be at our very best to get a result.”

Royston Town

Steve Castle led Royston Town to the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central title last Season, finishing 12 points ahead of runners-up Farnborough.

The Crows have kept the majority of last Seasons title-winning squad while strengthening in other areas. Castle has recruited experienced players over the Summer, bringing in left-back Lee Chappell (St Albans City) and midfield duo Sam Corcoran and James Potton (both Hemel Hempstead Town).

On Saturday, Royston Town lost their opening League fixture 1-2 at Home to Stratford Town, with striker John Frendo getting on the scoresheet in the First Half. Adam Murray was also sent off for the hosts in the Second Half.

The two sides met twice earlier this year when The Crows beat Farnborough 5-0 at Garden Walk in January, before six goals were shared in the return meeting in March.

Following his sides opening day defeat, Manager, Steve Castle told www.roystontownfc.co.uk: “Not the start all of us wanted with a loss at home to a organised Stratford team but valuable lessons to be learned from in what is a higher level than we have played thus far.

“Very early days in our progress, hopefully more belief and definitely a stronger will to not concede is the order of the day for me.

“It is evident to me that the squad is strong, we will certainly compete but not to allow the opposition chances is our priority!”

Royston Town last time out (vs Redditch United): Joe Welch (gk), Gus Scott-Morriss, Daniel Braithwaite, Scott Bridges (Capt), Adam Murray, Stuart Bridges, James Potton, Martel Powell, John Frendo, Adam Marriott, Sam Ives; Josh Castiglione, Matt Nolan, Romelle Alomenu, Jack Vasey and Ed Asafu-Adjaye.
