Farnborough’s first Saturday Home game of the new Evo-Stik League South Premier Season sees Redditch United visit The Rushmoor Community Stadium.

Farnborough

A quick turnaround from Wednesday’s midweek loss presents Farnborough with the opportunity to get their first Home win of the new Season.

The Yellows – who are currently without injured duo Kieron Forbes and Connor Calcutt – were narrowly defeated 0-1 at Home to Royston Town last time out.

Boro’ will be keen to double their points tally in the League table, especially with two big games against Merthyr Town and then Slough Town coming up next week.

Speaking after the game on Wednesday, Manager, Spencer Day said the following about our next opponents: “They won 5-0 at the weekend – the lad up top got a hat-trick. They lost right at the end last night [Tuesday] 1-0. They’ll be another big physical side, that’s what I said to the lads.

“We know Redditch will be another very tough game. Lets get the fans back here Saturday and I think they should be very encouraged with tonights performance and lets right it on Saturday. I’ll take us to only play half as good as tonight as long as we get the three points.”

Strikers, Perry Coles and Jamie Cureton will be looking to get off the mark this weekend

Redditch United

The Reds finished 17th out of 24 in last Seasons Evo-Stik League South Premier Division, three points above the final relegation place.

Redditch United are managed by former Jamaican international striker, Darren Byfield who is currently in his first management job having been appointed in May 2016.

Saturday’s visitors won their opening game of the Season 5-0 at Home to Dunstable Town with a Dior Angus hat-trick and goals from Spencer Weir-Daley and Vinny Mukendi.

Like Farnborough, Redditch United suffered a 0-1 defeat in midweek, conceding a last-minute goal at Kettering Town.

Byfield told the Club website after his sides loss on Tuesday evening: “I’ve just said to the boys I’m absolutely delighted with them, I’m even more pleased with our performance than I was Saturday because Kettering are a good side and are going to be up there.

“We fought with them every minute and the fair result would have been a draw, even their manager said the same thing, understood what a good side we’ve got.

“I’m happy with how we played, I’m happy with how we fought, I’ve seen a massive difference with this team from last season, I’m gutted for them because we should’ve got something from it, but it happens and evens itself out over the season.

“It was an even match, it really was, and I’m delighted with my boys and if they keep playing like that, fighting like that, they’ll be at the right end of the table at the end of the season.”

Redditch United last time out (Kettering Town): Ethan Ross (gk), Keenah Rosser, Nathan Fox, Danny Jackman (Capt), Guiyoulouwe Mailancol, Orrin Pendley, Aspostolis Aspostolopoulos, McCauley Manning, Dior Angus, Kevin Da Veiga Monteiro, Spencer Weir-Daly; Vinny Mukendi, Danico Johnson, Arjun Jung, Marcel Simpson and Kaylum Mitchell.
