Relegation-threatened Histon visit The Rushmoor Community Stadium this weekend in the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central.

Farnborough

Having consolidated second placed with victory at Barton Rovers last time out, Farnborough can play with a little pressure of their shoulders with three games left before the crucial Play-Offs commence.

In a second versus third battle last weekend, a Sam Pearce goal saw The Yellows win 1-0 on the road, with goalkeeper Zaki Oualah also keeping a third consecutive clean sheet.

With striker Pat Cox not fit to play due to a head injury, returning midfielder Charlie Allen went straight into the starting line-up against Barton Rovers, playing 67 minutes.

Inspired by a Nic Ciardini hat-trick and goals from Jack Barton and John Oyenuga, Farnborough beat Histon 5-0 at The Glass World Stadium back in August last year.

Heading into the final weeks of the Season, Manager, Spencer Day said: “So we have finished second by a considerable distance and that alone is a great season but of course the climax is still to come and we are all focused on the end of the month.

“Saturday’s match is actually helpful as our opponents are on a decent run and their form I understand completely belies their position and they are fighting hard to avoid relegation.

“In the away fixture they [Histon] played some great stuff in the first quarter of the game only for us to over run them in the end.

“They are a club sadly in a decline but are fighting to restore previous levels and we have great sympathy for their fight and wish them well whatever Saturday’s result.”

Farnborough last time out (vs Barton Rovers): Zaki Oualah (gk), John Oyenuga, CJ Fearn (Capt), Josh Huggins, Curtis Osano, Sam Pearce, Scott Donnelly, Charlie Allen, Perry Coles, Jamie Cureton, Keith Emmerson; Jack Barton, Jordan Graham, Nic Ciardini, Dennis Oli and Aaron Bufton (gk).

Histon

The Stutes lie 21st in the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central and are currently four points adrift of safety.

Infront of a crowd of 143, goals from Lewis Clayton, Simon Unwin and James Carman saw Histon come from a goal down to overcome Uxbridge 3-2 at The Glass World Stadium last Saturday.

Lewis Clayton, will be suspended after receiving two cautions last weekend, although Histon hope to welcome back midfield duo Lee Smith and Matty Allan back from respective injuries.

Following his sides victory over Uxbridge, Histon Manager, Lance Key told www.splitfocussports.com: “Second half we got them turned, we put balls in the box and created a bit of havoc. At this level of football that’s all it can take this time to score goals sometimes.

At Half Time in the game with Uxbridge, Key told his players: “The next 45 is crucial to our season, we’ve come this far. No regrets, go out there and do what you’ve been doing for the last three or four games.”

Histon last time out (vs Uxbridge): Sam Roach (gk), Danny Gould, Evan Key, Simon Unwin, Max York (Capt), Dan Gleeson, Tommy Wright, Lewis Clayton, James Carman, Jake Chambers-Shaw, Elkanah Sibanda; Joe Carden, Marcus Hall, Shaun Jenkins and Cameron Watson.
