Match Information: Farnborough vs Weymouth
Evo-Stik League South Premier
Wednesday 11 October 2017
We’re back on home soil Wednesday night as we entertain Weymouth in the Evo-Stik League South Premier. Boro will be looking to put right a winless record which now stretches to 5.
A disappointing past 7 days for Boro was topped off when a dominant performance against 24th placed Dunstable Town wasn’t enough to secure all 3 points as the side left Hertfordshire disappointed following a 1-0 loss. That topped off a poor week following a 6-1 defeat to Hartley Witney and a 3-0 defeat to Biggleswade Town the Saturday before.
However, the 2 games prior to these, the last 2 league games at The Rushmoor Community Stadium were packed with action, passion, determination and 2 very positive Boro performances which saw 4 points picked up. Spencer Day will be hoping to rejuvenate that belief back into his squad ahead of Wednesday’s encounter.
The visitors sit a couple of spots outside the play off places and find themselves 7th in the league table. Weymouth come into the game in good form following a Non-League day victory at home to King’s Lynn Town, winning the fixture 3-1.
Prior to this Weymouth picked up an impressive 3-0 win over Wimborne Town with help from a brace from ex-bournemouth man Matt Tubbs, who is currently on loan to the south coast side from Havant & Waterlooville.
When these 2 sides last met, you have to venture into the archives as far back as 2006. That game down at Weymouth saw Farnborough victorious by 2 goals to 1. That result didn’t stop Weymouth gaining promotion into the Conference Premier that season.
The Terras boss Mark Molesley will be a known name to most Farnborough supporters as he used to play midfield for neighboured rivals Aldershot Town. Since his playing days, Mark was involved with AFC Bournemouth’s U21 side. He then took over Weymouth as Caretaker Manager earlier this year before being given the permanent role of manager.
