Farnborough FC and Arlesey Town FC have received praise from Match Referee, Richard Hart on an “excellent game” at the weekend.

Below is the content from an email from Match Referee, Richard Hart to The Evo-Stik League Southern Secretary, Jason Mills:

“Good morning Jason,

I was the referee for the above game on Saturday and thought it only right to email regarding this excellent game.

I believe we are all to often guilty of criticizing the game of football, (I should know being a referee) but I had the privilege of refereeing a great game of football this Saturday. I have been at this level refereeing for 4 seasons and I can honestly say that this was the best game I have refereed on this league in all that time!!

In this game team benches were excellent and both teams just wanted to play good attractive football, don’t get me wrong it was a game that needed refereeing but when you have two teams that are willing to talk to me as a referee rather than berate every decision it makes the whole afternoon so much more enjoyable. Also it was refreshing to have two team captains that played their part brilliantly (this is getting quite rare nowadays) in helping with me and players.

I believe respect should work both ways in a game of football and this was evident at the final whistle when both sets of players and managers shook my hand knowing that we had all been involved in a superb game.

As a neutral I would gladly pay to watch football like this!!

Please could you pass on my sincere thanks to both clubs.

Kind regards

Richard Hart (match referee)”

Well done to everybody involved as this is certainly something for the Club to be proud of and many thanks to Richard Hart for his kind words.
