Striker Jamie Cureton gave his reaction after steering Farnborough to Promotion with a 2-0 Play-Off Final victory.
The 41-year-old admitted that this Season hadn’t been plain sailing after helping Farnborough gain Promotion back up to Step 3 of the National League pyramid.
Reaction to promotion…
“Really pleased. I think being here at the start of the Season, the aim was to get promoted.
“So coming back obviously we knew top spot was out of the way and it was a case of getting into the Play-Offs. The pressures been on us I think because everyone expected us to maybe walk through it and go up.
“So it’s nice to come through two Play-Off games and not concede. Comfortable really in the end and the Club deserves it. They’ve worked very hard behind the scenes and got everything in place, put together a very good team.
“People say that I’ve dropped down into Non-League and things don’t mean as much but it’s still a game of Football and it’s still peoples livelihoods on the line. I’m delighted that we’ve managed to do the job and next year the Clubs in a new Division so it’s great.
Cureton netted a total of 15 goals in 17 games during his spell in Hampshire and it was no surprise when the veteran striker opened the scoring in Monday’s Play-Off Final.
“That’s why Spencer brought me back – to help out and get more goals and I’ve managed to score a few since I’ve been back so [it has] been very pleasing. Pezza’s done very well – scored a lot of goals and I think the partnership has worked really well, especially the later part of the Season and all round everyones played their part.
“It’s pleasing for me to come back – I was here in the Summer, played the first part of the Season and then moved on so it’s nice to come back and help out and play a small part in getting the Club promoted.
A message to the fans…
“Thank you – they’ve supported me since I’ve come here. As the games have gone on, especially today, they’ve turned up. It’s great support and hopefully [with] the Club going in a new Division we get more fans like that back.
“It does inspire the boys. Playing infront of bigger crowds is great so I’d just like to say thank you and enjoy your Summer now. [The] Clubs got promoted and everyone can hopefully go and have a good Summer and get ready for next year.”
