The latest Squad Update from the Club heading into the new Season.

The Club are delighted to announce the signing of Joel Driscoll a goalkeeper from Perth, Australia on a one year contract.

We can also confirm the signing of Curtis Osano who was last at Indian Premier League side Bengaluru.

Both players are awaiting International Clearance which is imminent.

Speaking on the new additions, Manager Spencer Day commented: “These further two big signings are really exciting as we head into the season and back up the other new key players.

“Curtis is a proven performer having played regularly for AFC Wimbledon, Luton and Rushden and Diamonds and is the commanding centre half that we have been looking for. He continues our thread of getting in mostly local players and was brought up and educated in Cove and is very excited to return to his home club having been so far from home where he won the Indian Premier League.

“The opportunity with Joel was one that the Club and I couldn’t turn down. It is no secret that I was more than happy with my two first choice keepers in Melvin and Aaron as we entered pre season. However we have been offered the opportunity of having Joel with the realistic prospect of selling him on in the very new future.

“Joel was invited to Arsenal for a long term trial and is extremely highly sought after and with the Premier and FL rules we were able to assist in getting Joel into the shop window which is something all non league clubs desperately need. As much as Joel may not be here for too long I have had to have very difficult conversations with my two keepers and Aaron has decided to move on.

“Both understood the rare position the Club finds itself in and have done nothing wrong but we really couldn’t turn this opportunity down for both the teams benefit and the Clubs finances.

“With no guaranteed first team spot for Aaron or Melvin even without the arrival of Joel it was a tough decision as both performed well at various times during 2016 so sadly Aaron leaves with our best wishes and thanks as he seeks a number 1 position at another Club.

“Melvin will be dual registered with Hendon to give both Clubs a fantastic back-up and I am pleased that we are so strong in this vital position for once.

Habib Cissoko, a striker from France, has also signed on a non contract basis subject to International Clearance and two of our new intake Academy lads, Jamal Batchilly and Jordan Goater, who only shortly turns 16, are also due to sign forms to be an immediate part of our First Team squad that is taking final shape having both performed so well in pre season.

“We all can’t wait for the season to start now and look forward to completing our final preparations against Kingstonian and Chertsey in this last build up week.”
