Farnborough ensured they went into the new Season unbeaten following a 3-1 Pre-Season win at Chertsey Town.
Boro’ didn’t start particularly well on the long grass at Alwyns Lane – Chertsey Town’s Jamie Ross received an early cross from the right and had low shot deflected just past the post by CJ Fearn.
Manager, Spencer Day was forced into an early substitution with John Oyenuga taking a knock and the full-back was replaced by trialist, Sam Shamban.
Two minutes later, Shaban fed Ciardini down the right whose cross found the adventurous Huggins who drew a good save from Jack Ogle.
It didn’t get any better for Farnborough as they fell behind to a 34th minute strike from Shelton Gooden.
The Chertsey Town striker picked the ball up just inside the Farnborough box and unleashed a rocket into the top right-hand corner. Chertsey Town 1-0 Farnborough.
Farnborough looked for a response and came close as Oli and Huggins combined down the left and the latters cross was hooked over the bar from close range by Smith.
Just before Half Time, Farnborough grabbed an equaliser as Sam Shaban picked up a loose ball and strike home from the edge of the box. Chertsey Town 1-1 Farnborough.
Boro’ calved out another chance before the break as Battie fed Huggins down the middle who set Shabam who dragged a low shot just wide of the left-hand post.
HALF TIME: Chertsey Town 1-1 Farnborough
Farnborough upped their game in the second half and were looking much sharper on the ball.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Academy player Jamal Batchilly took to the fray in place of Marcus Moody.
A short while after, Ciardini played a short free-kick across to Jack Barton whose powerful low shot found its way into the back of the net. Chertsey Town 1-2 Farnborough.
On the 70 minute mark, Farnborough replaced Eddie Smith with Academy regular, Jordan Goater.
Shaban was fouled on the edge of the box for a Farnborough free-kick on around 79 minutes and Nic Ciardini drilled a low strike around the Chertsey Town wall and past Jack Ogle. Chertsey Town 1-3 Farnborough.
Shortly after, Ciardini was denied by Ogle from inside the box after good play by Fearn and Huggins.
Boro’ made two final substitution with Habib Sissoko and Ryan Zidyana replacing Dennis Oli and Jack Barton respectively.
The final chance of the game fell to substitute Sissoko who latched onto a through ball from Ciardini and drove into the box but the French striker fired powerful a strike over the bar.

Spencer Day’s side end Pre-Season 2016 on an unbeaten run and head into their League opener with Bedford Town on Saturday with plenty of confidence.
