This Saturday (25 July), FA WSL 2 table-toppers Reading Women return League action against Aston Villa Ladies at The Rushmoor Community Stadium, kick off 6pm.
On Tuesday (22 July) evening, The Royals narrowly lost their opening Continental Tyres Cup Group game 2-3 to Emma Hayes’ Chelsea Ladies.
Kelly Chambers’ Reading were holding the FA WSL 1 League leaders to a 2-2 draw, until a mistake at the back in the 88th minute was capitalised on by South Korean International Ji So-Yun.
Royals striker Helen Ward spoke out ahead of Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa: “They have been going really and they were a bit of a bogey side for us last year so we know it will not be easy,” said the former Chelsea and Arsenal poacher.
“We will approach it the same way we have done every game and it’s up to us to make sure that we are not complacent.
“There are only eight league games left so we cannot afford to slip up and let teams like Everton, Aston Villa and Yeovil to catch up.
“The great thing is that it is in our hands, with Doncaster to play again, but we don’t want to let the other teams back in.”
