On Tuesday evening, Farnborough travel to bottom of the League, VCD Athletic as Spencer Day’s side look mount a charge to climb out of the Ryman League Premier Division relegation zone, kick off 7:45pm.

Farnborough Camp

Saturday’s crucial League win took Farnborough onto 12 points for the Season as the 22nd place Yellows look to climb out of the Ryman League Premier Division relegation zone.

A goal in each half from Tom Broadbent and Reading loanee, Bogdan Vastsuk helped Farnborough to a 2-1 Home victory over 7th placed Wingate & Finchley at the weekend.

Manager, Spencer Day added to the Farnborough squad during the week with the signing of goalkeeper, Aaron Bufton – who had an impressive debut on Saturday – along with former players Darryl Siaw and Marcus Moody returning to the Club.

Young starlets, Ryan Zidyana and Josh Francis made their debuts as second half substitutes in Saturday’s victory, in what was another positive week for Marc Wardley’s Farnborough Academy side.

Speaking after Saturday’s 2-1 Home victory over Wingate & Finchley, Manager Spencer Day explained: “I’m really proud of all of them. Lots of new faces – we start with a massive squad at the start of Pre-Season, we’ve still got a good core of what we started with. We brought in some Academy lads.

“We’re delighted with the result. They’re (Wingate & Finchley) one of the best teams in this division. They are a very very good footballing side. Today it’s gone our way and it was an exciting game. Both teams had chances.

Giving his thoughts on Tuesday evening’s trip to bottom of the League, VCD Athletic, Day said: “I thought it was a terrible game here at few weeks ago, and we won it. We didn’t play well at all.

“VCD [Athletic] have got that monkey off their backs by beating Staines last week. It’s a very difficult place to go, away. On their patch they’ve particularly strenghtened. It’s an important game and of course we’ve got a monkey on our backs about our away form.

Day warned: “Lets go and focus again because we’ve got VCD and then Needham [Market] – another side around us. But lets also focus on the fact that there’s a very long way to go here.

“If we can show the application that we had today, and the quality at key moments – and we played some great football at times with some fabulous balls put across the box – then we’ve got every chance.”

VCD Athletic were knocked out of the FA Trophy in the 2nd Qualifying Round at the weekend, going down 2-0 away to Ryman League Premier Division League leaders, Dulwich Hamlet.

Farnborough ran out 3-0 winners when the two sides met at The Rushmoor Community Stadium four weeks ago.
