This Saturday Farnborough welcome 13th placed Wealdstone to Paddy Power Park in a must-win Vanarama Conference South game for the hosts.

Farnborough head into Saturday’s crucial clash in 20th place, one place above an already-relegated Staines Town side. The gap between 19th placed Maidenhead United is currently six points.

Spencer Day’s side let a two goal lead slip at Bishop’s Stortford last Saturday in a 2-2 draw at the ProKit UK Stadium, with striker Jordan Robertson scoring both of Farnborough’s goals.

Last time at Paddy Power Park, Farnborough lost heavily 7-2 to Bath City, with joint top-scorer Dan Bennett netting both of the home sides goals on that day.

A fantastic brace by current Wealdstone midfielder Matt Ball was enough for Farnborough to collect three points in 2-1 away win at the start of the season.

Farnborough will be without midfielder Harry Grant who begins the first of a two match suspension for accumulating ten bookings, but Josh Webb will be available for selection after returning from a spell with Burham to start last weekends draw at Bishop’s Stortford.

Centre-back Adam Brice is still battling injury, while young striker Nathan Chambers has been struggling with an illness.

Speaking to GetHampshire ahead of the game, Manager Spencer Day said: “Wealdstone have just smashed Basingstoke away from home so it doesn’t get any easier.

“We’re down to the bare bones but we’re not dead yet. It’s a hell of a task but if we can go out and perform like we did on Saturday then we can at least give our fans something to cheer.

“Last time we were an embarrassment in front of our home fans so we’ve got to put that right. We owe them one and need them all behind us.”

Farnborough won 2-1 at Wealdstone back in August last year

Gordon Bartlett’s Wealdstone sit comfortably in mid-table in 13th position, with 48 points from 36 games. The Stones have scored 48 times so far this season but have conceeded 51 goals. Wealdstone’s top scorer is experienced striker Jefferson Louis with six goals.

Last time out, Wealdstone impressively won 4-2 at 3rd placed Basingstoke Town, courtesy of goals from Wes Parker, Luke O’Nien, Jefferson Louis and Tom Hamblin.

Speaking to the GetWestLondon ahead of the game, Manager Gordon Bartlett said: “It’s [mathematical survival] given us the mathematical freedom of knowing we’re in the Conference South next year so that’s good.

“Now we know that the sides in the bottom three can’t catch us we can enjoy the last four games and get to that 50 points.

“I’m not going to worry about who we’re playing and we’ve tried not to do that all along and we keep setting new targets and something we said a while ago is we want to win more games than we lose. We can turn the corner on Saturday.

“Can we have a positive goal difference? We can do that. Can we get 50 points? We can do that.

“We’re not going to allow the season to peter out just because we’re safe. We’d like to win our remaining games this season. Whatever the result on Saturday, we’ll look at new things Monday.”
