Eager to get past the first hurdle, this Monday evening Farnborough host Kingstonian in an The Emirates FA Cup 1st Qualfying Round Replay, kick off 7:45pm.

Farnborough Camp

Kingsmeadow was the venue at the weekend for Farnborough’s first The Emirates FA Cup tie of the Season, as Spencer Day’s side earned an impressive 1-1 draw against Kingstonian.

Farnborough had defender Martin Dynan harshly sent off just 11 minutes into the tie, for what the Officials deemed a last man foul on striker Ricky Sappleton.

Sappleton dispacted the resulting Penalty, but top scorer Bobbie Dale hit back almost instantly, bagging his sixth goal in Farnborough colours this Season.

Reading loanee, Lewis Collins returned to the starting line-up after a combination of injury and illness had kept him out of action, while Dean Joseph-Whittingham also came off the bench to make his Farnborough debut.

Despite his red card on Saturday, defender Martin Dynan will be available for selection as his ban doesn’t start until a later date.

Doubts for Monday’s Replay include trio Timi Abiola (injury), Nicholas Brown (injury) and Bradley Fraser (pending International clearance).

Opposition Camp

Ricky Sappleton’s first half Penalty wasn’t enough to set Kingstonian on their way in The Emirates FA Cup at the weekend, at the K’s could only manage a 1-1 draw at Home to 10 men Farnborough.

The K’s ended Saturday’s game with four former Farnborough players on the pitch, in: Alan Inns, Tyron Smith, Arron Hopkinson and Dan Bennett.

Top scorer with 7 goals, Pelayo Pico Gomez, is likely to sit out the tie after the K’s striker picked up a knee injury in a recent victory at VCD Athletic. However, Kingstonian may be able to welcome back wide-man Peter Dean.

Striker Ricky Sappleton, who was replaced after 16 minutes on Saturday, is a doubt through a hamstring injury along with midfielder Daniel Sweeney.

Speaking to Kingstonian TV immediately after Saturday’s 1-1 draw, K’s boss Tommy Williams said: “It was frustrating, certainly. I didn’t think we were nowhere near our standards that we’ve set of late. I don’t think we had enough movement off the ball today – certainly first half.

“We turned the screw a bit, certainly the last 25 minutes, but couldn’t break them down and in the end, for all their hard work and effort – Farnborough – they probably deserve a Replay.

“They’re a young side, so maybe that might help them in terms of recovery. We weren’t at our best today. Under par performances. We need to be better come Monday night. As a group we need to be better than we were today.

On Monday’s Replay, Williams explained: “They’re the home side now. I’m sure they’ll be a bit more offensive – they will be with obviously 11 players on the pitch. So we need to recover well, physically. And we need to go there on Monday and play at the standard we’ve set of the last couple of days.

“We were very flat today, didn’t have enough tempo about us and we wasted minutes on the football pitch. Last 25 minutes we turned the screw a bit and we got into key areas and didn’t really take the chances.”
