Defeat leaves Boro demoralised
Weston-Super-Mare came from behind to record their first Skrill South win in six attempts over Farnborough.
In a dull first half, Boro created the early chances with Fraser Colmer firing just over. Adam Doyle denied by home keeper Lloyd Irish and stand-in-skipper Josh Huggins firing narrowly across goal.
For Weston, Brett Trowbridge headed over from Dayle Grubb’s free kick, while Martin Slocombe’s low cross was cut out by keeper Ross Fitzsimons.
Farnborough took the lead on 44 minutes when Northampton Town loanee JJ Hooper, was put in by Phil Page and beat Irish.
But straight from the restart, Weston attacked and teenager Syd Camper, bustled through and fired under Fitzsimons for a quick equaliser.
Weston had more of the play in the second half with Fitzsimons making a superb double save to deny Grubb and Fiddes on 65 minutes.
The winner eventually came on 70 minutes when Weston man-of-the-match Ashley Kington left Fitzsimons standing with a 25-yard shapshot.
Farnborough brought on Connor French, Tyrone Berry and Courtney Fearn to freshen their attack, but the Weston held out well and claimed their fifteenth League win of the season.
While Boro remain in fifteenth place, five points clear of eighteenth placed Maidenhead, and will look for a response when Bishop’s Stortford are the visitors to Paddy Power Park on Tuesday (8 April).
