Farnborough Football Club are pleased to announce the signings of Jamie Slabber on loan from Bromley, Alfie May and Mario Quiassaca.
We can also confirm that goalkeeper Grant Smith signed from Hayes & Yeading United last week and played in Farnborough’s home game with Ebbsfleet United last Saturday.
Leaving the club are Derek Tieku, Andrew Montugu, Pat O’Connor, Aaron Tumwa, Craig Ross, and Ferdinand Takyi on dual registration.
Manager Spencer Day commented “A three week chase has at last come to its end and I’m delighted with the three signings we’ve made. Jamie needs no introduction as one of the Leagues regular top scorers and a player we could only dream about signing these last couple of years.
“He arrives on an initial one month loan as part of the Paul Rodgers deal and we are grateful to Mark and Bromley. It’s a great opportunity for Jamie to get some games and goals and enjoy himself again after a difficult start to the season.”
Day continued, “Alfie May comes from Erith and Belvedere where he has already scored 24 goals this season and trialled with Crewe Alexandra a couple of weeks ago. It’s a great opportunity for him to try at a higher level and we are excited to again give lower pyramid players their chance. We also thank Erith for supporting Alfie in getting his chance.
“Mario has played before in the Conference South with Staines. His circumstances have been well documented but his response to his actions by winning an award for his work in the community are to be applauded and we wish him well as he tries to force his way back into the game.
“Outgoings are Derek and Andrew. Both need finance that we can’t justify. They were here only on expenses and I can only pay players that are in and around first team starters so they’ve moved on. We wish them well in the future and thank them for their time here.
“Ferdinand has gone out on dual registration to Walton Casuals and may be going to a Step 3 side shortly. Again he wants more money that we can justify and this opportunity works for all parties where he can play games and get enough money to survive in the UK.
“In summary I’ve commented before we need more quality up top. We’ve certainly struggled to score goals especially at home and have focused too much on Pagey. By wheeling and dealing we’ve managed to get in quality up top and a couple of other lads that are desperate to prove themselves at this level. Add in Feye [Fejiri Okenabirhie] who scored a hat trick in our behind closed door 1st team friendly on Wednesday and we have some serious competition for places.
Day added “Of course I would like a settled squad but that’s one of the prices of seriously restricted budget but we’re fighting hard and looking forward to the coming matches and hope our supporters will turn out in force to cheer us on.”
Jamie, Alfie and Mario will all be available for selection for tomorrow’s home fixture with Bishop’s Stortford so please come along to Paddy Power Park and show your support!
