Farnborough will make the trip to Isthmian League Division One South side Walton & Hersham this Saturday to play their penultimate pre-season friendly of the summer.

Farnborough have now recorded four wins from six and go into their seventh pre-season friendly of the summer with plenty of confidence. With 9 days left until the big kick off at Boreham Wood, Farnborough will want to keep their winning habit while forward Joe Taylor remains leading pre-season goalscorer with four goals in six games so will be keen to add to his tally.

Manager Spencer Day bolstered his squad with three new additions this week, with goalkeeper Charlie Grainger being loaned in from Leyton Orient, pacey winger Josh Webb signing on and adding tricky midfielder Matt Ball who is also now a Farnborough player.

Former Stevenage man Ball has two goals to his name so far this pre-season

Two goals in as many first-half minutes from Matt Ball and impressive new striker Joe Taylor – his third in two games – sealed victory for Boro at Tonbridge Angels’ Longmead Stadium last time out, leaving Day with plenty to be encouraged about ahead of Saturday’s trip to Walton & Hersham and the big visit of League One side Leyton Orient on Monday night.

Manager Day told the News & Mail, “I’m really pleased with the response of the players,”

“Yes, there is still room for improvement but the lads have made a huge step up this week when people were beginning to question them.

“We are still small in numbers but for many the learning curve is going well and two victories over Step 3 sides away from home give us much encouragement.”

Tomorrow’s hosts Walton & Hersham finished last season in 21st position in the Isthmian League Division One South and are currently managed by Chuck Martini. The current Swans side includes former Farnborough Academy players Jack Battie, Tarome Hemmings and Swans pre-season top scorer Andrew Mensah.

Last time out on Tuesday, Walton & Hersham beat UK Football Finder Football Club Ellie Development Squad 3-0 in a pre-seson friendly, with goals coming from Sacha Mbaye and former Boro duo Andrew Mensah and Tarome Hemmings.
