Farnborough entertain Bishop’s Stortford at Paddy Power Park at 3pm this Saturday in the Vanarama Conference South.

It’s 16th vs 17th in the Vanarama Conference South tomorrow as Rod Stringer’s Bishop’s Stortford side are the visitors to Paddy Power Park.

Speaking after last Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Ebbsfleet United, Farnborough Manager Spencer Day told News & Mail, “We were beaten by the better side, but it wasn’t a terrible performance and we gave it a good go.

“The scoreline probably flatters them but what you saw is the difference in quality, fitness and discipline levels. We gave away too may soft free-kicks and there were things we’ve now got to try and replicate from Ebbsfleet, they were incredibly efficient and well-drilled.

“With all due respect we’ve got much bigger battles to fight than Ebbsfleet, starting with Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday, which is now a big big game for us.

“It’s a game where both teams will target each other and we really need to go out and put on a show for our home fans.

“We desperately need added quality, especially in attacking areas and we’ve been very busy these last few weeks using the limited budget we do have to create opportunities.

And boss Day has been busy indeed, adding experience to the frontline with the loan signing of Jamie Slabber as well as the welcome additions of Alfie May and Mario Quiassaca.

Speaking after the Blues 1-1 draw with Bromley on Tuesday evening, assistant Manager Paul Hilton told the Herts and Essex Observer, “I hope it’s better than when we played at Farnborough last time, which was a bit of a disaster to say the least.

“We all know who’s got the big budgets, but as we’ve seen with recent results any team can give everyone a decent game.

“That’s where with these games the confidence the lads can take is very important. We’ve got to go there confident on Saturday that we can pick something up.”
