Back-to-back 2-1 wins over Bromley and a Semi Final victory over AFC Portchester mean confidence is high in the Boro camp as they go in pursuit of  completing a league double over a was relegation threatened Boreham Wood side. (Skrill South League Fixture – Kick off 7.45pm)

‘Boro Camp

Boro lie 14th in the Skrill South with 36 points going into Monday’s midweek game with 15th placed Boreham Wood.

A second League win in March for Boro would see them keep 14th place, with Concord Rangers lying in 13th place with 41 points in a very tight bottom half of the table.

Saturday’s three points moved Boro onto 36 for the season but they will be keen to improve on that total with a victory over The Wood and try to extend the seven point gap to 18th placed Maidenhead.

Ahead of Monday’s game, Boro boss Spencer Day praised the performances of his young sqaud, telling BBC Surrey:

“It’s very tough; it’s a very quick turnaround – 36 hours between games is always really tough. It’s an away trip to a side that has got an awful lot of quality and have dragged themselves away from the relegation zone which is no surprise to me. They’ve got some really good players there and it will be a tough game for us, but the games are coming thick and fast.

“I think our performances over the last month have been ok, the results have been slightly disappointing, we’ve been playing the very best teams in the division but it was great to take the scalp of the League leaders on Saturday and we’ll go with positivity to a very difficult place on Monday night.

“We’ve deserved that little bit of luck, we’ve not had a lot this season but we’ve still got to go and get another three or four wins and we’ve got a very difficult run in with a small squad but I was delighted for the fans that turned up on Saturday. We really worked hard, particularly in the second half and the crowd helped us home and it was a great victory and we’ve got to focus again.

“Our away form is not the best, it’s a very tough ask these next few couple of away games but we know that if we apply ourselves the right way, we’ve got every chance of getting a result.”

Opposition Camp

Although they have one game in hand, Boreham Wood lie one place below Boro in 15th. Improved away form has boosted Boreham Wood chances of securing safety this season as home form has been surprisingly poor. Of their 15 home League games, Boreham Wood have won 3; drawn 6 and lost 6.

Ian Allinson’s men come into Monday’s game off the back of a 2-1 defeat in the hands of a revitalized Gosport Borough side who continue to play catch up having only fulfilled 27 Skrill South League games so far.

One to watch: Graeme Montgomery – 8 goals

Last time the two sides met, was back in September, when former Boro midfielder Scott Donnelly bagged a brace in a 2-0 win, including a stunning free-kick from 30 yards out.
