After picking up 6 points from a possible 6 at Paddy Power Park so far in February, ‘Boro will be determined to continue their strong home form against a rusty Basingstoke side which last played on February 3rd.
After Saturday’s defeat, ‘Boro remain in 15th place in the Skrill South with 30 points but 8 points currently separates ‘Boro from the relegation places.
An all-important win for ‘Boro would see them reach 33 points and could see them rise as high as 12th place, depending on other results.
The visitors currently occupy 11th place in the Skrill South and lie 9 points off the Play Off places. Of their 12 away fixtures so far this season, The Stoke have won 4; drawn 1 and lost 7. A Basingstoke win could see them climb to 9th place depending on other results.
Basingstoke’s last game was an away day at the start of the month, where they picked up their first away draw of the season at Boreham Wood. Highlights of that game can be viewed by clicking here.
Town will be without left-back Adam Green due to suspension, while midfielder Matt Partridge will be out for a while after damaging ankle ligaments playing for Reading Under-21s. However, midfielders Andrew Jenkinson and Jordace Holder-Spooner have both recovered from minor injuries and will be in contention.
The last time the two sides met was in the League, on Boxing Day, at the Camrose when The Stoke contributed to ‘Boro’s poor away record, with ‘Boro shipping goals from Kezie Ibe, Manny Williams, Shaun McAuley and Louie Soares on a disappointing away day.
Previewing the game, last week Jason Bristow told The Basingstoke Gazette:
“A couple of wins can really change the way the table looks at the moment. One win can push you up a few places but two or three and we would be right in the mix. That is what we are aiming to do.
“Farnborough have won their last two and will be a different side to the one we beat on Boxing Day.”
One to watch: Manny Williams – 7 goals
