Farnborough Football Club are delighted to announce that Lewis Ferrell has been appointed as team captain for the 2014-15 season, with fellow team mate Phil Page appointed vice-captain.

Proud defender Lewis Ferrell will captain Farnborough when they begin their Vanarama Conference South campaign at Boreham Wood on Saturday (3pm).

One of many new faces brought to the club by Spencer Day this summer, centre-back Ferrell has been entrusted with the armband for the 2014/15 season.

The former Staines Town skipper exclusively told farnboroughfc.co.uk, “First and foremost [I am] thrilled to be appointed skipper. I spoke to the gaffer and Leigh before I signed and they said they saw me coming straight in as vice captain under Innsy [Alan Inns] back then, so obviously him departing I wanted to step up and take that role.

“Luckily I’ve shown the gaffer and Leigh enough and been appointed it with Pagey [Phil Page] being my vice which is also nice. Pagey is a bit older than most the boys and has been at the club for a few more years so he knows how things are run so I can always go to him for that extra help.

Ferrell added, “I know I conduct myself professionally on and off the field and hopefully we all copy them habits. The squad is small and I want to make the group as close knit as possible on and off the field. Having a good dressing room shows no matter what level your playing at, if your all singing off the same hymn sheet you will succeed and hopefully that will propel to Boro’s highest league position for a few years.

“With regards to Boreham Wood, obviously I think everyone involved in football can’t wait for the season to start. Every World Cup year I think makes people hungrier to achieve and inspires them and I’m no different. I think I speak on behalf of the boys: we can’t wait come 3pm Saturday. Obviously the season consists of 40 games, so we will take each game as it comes and set no limit to what we can achieve.

“All the best to everyone attached with the club fans, staff, management and players for the 2014/2015 season.”

Farnborough Football Club congratulate Lewis Ferrell and Phil Page on their appointments and wish them every success in their new roles.
