It is with great sadness that Farnborough Football Club announce the passing of Hazel Manning.

The Club were saddened to receive the following statement from one of her sons Michael Manning:

Sorry to announce the passing of our Mum, Hazel Manning. She died aged 73 at Frimley Park Hospital after a year long battle with ill health. She was surrounded by close members of our family for the last couple of weeks – remaining stubborn and vigilant to the very end.

She had a long affinity with Farnborough FC. Her youngest son Michael played for the boys team for years, and she was an ardent supporter, later becoming treasurer for the team.

Up until ill health, she’d been a local councillor for four years with the Liberal Democrats, also joining the board on FaST (Farnborough FC Supporters Trust). During the home games, she used to help out by counting the gate money and watching the team was a highlight of her weekend. She did so much for the local community – and no challenge was too big for her, always promoting Farnborough FC along the way.

Bob Perry, membership secretary of FaST, said: “She did all she could to promote the club through the community.”

Her funeral will be held this Thursday 11th September at 9.45am at Aldershot Crematorium, then onto the Royal British Legion, North Camp for a celebration of her life.

We ask if you would like to attend to accessorise with an element of red, as this was our Mum’s favourite colour. Instead of flowers, we ask if you could make a small donation to Monkey World, Dorset as our Mum had great enjoyment there via, thank you.

Michael Manning and Mitch Manning.

A minutes silence will be observed at our match against Bromley on Saturday 13th September and a tribute will feature in the match day Programme.

Farnborough Football Club would like to offer our deepest condolences to the Manning family at this difficult time.

RIP Hazel.
