Farnborough FC’s Football in the Community is pleased to announce a new reading scheme in partnership with The Literacy Trust and Rushmoor Borough Council, and Farnborough Sixth Form.

About the Project

Premier League Reading Stars is a partnership between the National Literacy Trust and the Premier League. We have worked with thousands of schools and libraries since 2012.

Funding from the Premier League and Arts Council England allows targeted schools and libraries to take part free of charge. Others can take part by using our programme resources.

In 2013, three out of four pupils taking part made at least six months’ progress in 10 weeks. Our short film summarises its success.

Three Local Junior schools have agreed to pilot the scheme which will see 10 pupils from each school have one to one reading each week.

BUT we need volunteers for this scheme – So if you could spare an hour each week to listen to a child read please get in touch!

Club Chaplain Mark McGowan explained, “This is an excellent opportunity to help the local children it is an excellent scheme which the Premier League fully supports.”

If you can help then please contact Mark on 07854383441 or via email at, mark@markmcgowan.org.uk
