‘Boro ended the 2012/13 season with Silverware after a convincing 4-0 victory over Chalfont St Peter in the Suburban Football League Challenge Shield at a windswept Cherrywood Road tonight (Thursday).

‘Boro led at half time courtesy of a Serge Makofo strike, and three goals in the final ten minutes made sure of a comfortable victory.

Andy Mensah doubled the advantage, slotting home coolly when finding himself one on one with the keeper Sykes.

Sykes was the villain in the last few minutes, first a heavy touch allowing substitute Chris Kiganda to dispossess him before calmly slotting home.

The Chalfont keepers misery was complete in the final minutes when he upended Mensah, and referee Mr Killip had no option but to point to the spot and give Sykes his marching orders.

The resulting penalty from Tarome Hemmings was saved by the stand in keeper, but Kiganda reacted quickest to slot home, ensuring an emphatic victory for ‘Boro.

After finishing bottom of the table last season, a solid 5th place finish, and success in the shield rounded off an all round successful season for Leigh Dynan’s men.

Manager Dynan commented “The lads done really well today and fully deserved the win, I thought we dominated the match from start to finish. This was a great end to an all round successful season.”
