With the Cherrywood Road pitch currently under 3 inches of snow after this mornings wintery showers a pitch inspection has been called at 4pm this afternoon.
The clubs social media sites have been a hive of activity with supporters offering help to come and clear the pitch, which once again is a testament to the passion held for the club by the fans.
Chief Executive Steve Duly commented “The offers of support to assist in such numbers have been warmly received, we did manage to clear the pitch for the Clevedon game three seasons ago, but that took on average 20 people, four days solid to achieve, I have been in discussions with Peter Howard (groundsman) all morning, and the snow is forecast to continue for the remainder of the day, we have already seen three inches come down in about 4 hours, and we feel that any snow we did manage to clear would be replenished as soon as it was moved.
We also have to be mindful that this morning the pitch surface was reasonably soft and lessons learnt from the Clevedon experience a few years ago was that significant damage was caused to the surface with the removal of the snow, this coupled with spectator safety considerations and Bath City’s travelling logistics leads to an early inspection being the most sensible approach”
Confirmation of the pich inspection outcome will be updated once complete.
