‘BORO are back on home soil on Saturday and will be looking to build on the commanding victory over Dover Athletic last weekend as Bath City come to town.
Defender, Josh Huggins believes that the performance against high-flying Dover had been coming for a while.
“It was an afternoon where everything went right for us,” said the 22 year-old. “Everyone was naturally delighted with the performance; it was an all-round solid display and gives us something very positive to build upon.
“We all played our part and it was good to have Deano back in the defence and playing well.
“That performance had been coming for some time and to do it against one of the best sides in this League was an added bonus.
“Now we have to make sure that we can keep our focus and really push on and that means getting another three points against Bath City.
“It’s a game that we are looking forward to. For 80 minutes or so at their place earlier in the season we were the better side, only for two late lapses of concentration to cost us the points, so we will be keen to make amends.
“We are confident of beating anyone in this League, particularly at home, and the result in our last match only strengthens that belief.
“That said, we’re not getting too carried away. At this stage it is about accumulating enough points to secure our status at this level and then once that objective has been achieved, we can look to push on and see where it takes us.
“It’s a cliché, but we have to take it one game at a time. We have the talent here to do well and we must make sure that we keep our focus.”
So what are Huggins’ thoughts on his own displays so far this term?
“I was a bit in and out early on,” he admitted. “But since I’ve been at right-back, I’ve really enjoyed it and feel that I have settled well into the back four.
“I’d like to think that I have proven what I am capable of and that I deserve to be in the team.
“For me it’s about maintaining high standards and being able to progress in the second half of the season.
“There is good character in the team and I enjoy being part of it. The Gaffer makes sure that we always focus on the positives and everyone has responded to that.
“The spirit around the place is excellent; we’ve trained well this week and can’t wait to get out there again on Saturday.”
