It was a night to forget as ‘Boro returned home empty handed from Concord Rangers the hosts dishing out the heaviest defeat of the season in the process.
Despite opening the match looking the brighter of the two sides, Dave Tarpey forcing an early save from Butler in the Concord goal, the hosts took the lead against the run of play in the ninth minute, Ogilvie the scorer.
On twenty minutes the lead was doubled almost a carbon copy of the first goal, this time White finding the target.
Tarpey and Page worked hard but a distinct lack of quality in the final two thirds did not help ‘Boro’s cause, prompting, Spencer Day to introduce Elvis Hammond and Juan Mouko after the break, Dan Bennett and debutant Alex Finney the two players making way.
The game was really over as a contest early in the second half as Jack Powell struck home a free kick from distance, with Kevin Scriven probably thinking he could have dealt with the situation better.
Ogilvie completed his hat trick with two further goals, the second whilst ‘Boro were down to ten men, influential skipper Alan Inns receiving treatment for a rib injury at the time.
Inns took no further part, and the substitution allowed Courtney Fearn to make his first appearance for the club, the youngster who has been impressing week in week out for Allan Smart in the academy set up.
The performance of Fearn was probably the biggest positive for ‘Boro on the night, as he looked comfortable in an unfamiliar centre back role and didn’t not let the occasion daunt him.
‘Boro return to Essex on Saturday to take on Chelmsford City in another Skrill South encounter.concord Rangers
