In light of the postponement of this weekend’s match versus Eastbourne Borough the club would like to make the following statement.
There has been some criticism at the lack of information regarding the conditions imposed on the “Newco” by the Football Conference to attain membership to the Football Conference.
We are all frustrated as we enter another weekend with no fixture for the club, but supporters must appreciate that this is a matter between the club and the competition and not for discussion in any public forum.
When officials of the club met with the Football Conference last Wednesday, it was made clear that a deadline of 5pm on Thursday 5th September 2013 was set for the “Newco” to satisfy all criteria for membership of the Football Conference, this is clearly the defined cut off date for compliance although the Football Conference did give us latitude that if we could get the conditions met earlier that they would consider allowing us to commence our season ahead of the September 5th.
The club have worked extremely hard to satisfy the requirements, but unfortunately failed to have all criteria met at the imposed deadline of 5pm on Thursday 29th August to allow this weekend’s match to take place.
Responses and evidence to all of the issues raised have been submitted to the Football Conference and we await their feedback.
We would like to clarify that these issues are all in relation to the “Newco” becoming members of the Football Conference, the competition have stringent regulations relating to membership requirements and they have a duty to ensure that all member clubs are compliant ahead of acceptance into their competition.
We look forward to finally getting our Skrill South 2013/14 campaign underway and thank you for your continued patience and support at this time.
