Club Chaplain Mark McGowan has recently become one of only sixteen people to have passed the post graduate degree in Sports Chaplaincy.
He studied the course which is accredited to Gloucester University by distance learning which also included two block weeks.
Part of the course was to produce a presentation and also four 3500 word essays subjects included critically discussing sports chaplaincy in the modern day sporting world, Thomas Arnold and masculine Christianity
Speaking about the course Mark said ” It was the hardest thing I’ve done particularly as it was in my own time but I am really pleased to have achieved this.
I have developed as a chaplain but also write and read very differently now.
It was humbling to be lectured by a well respected Professor in Sport Dr Andrew Parker as well as John Bowyers The Manchester Utd Chaplain and also the CEO of Sports Chaplaincy UK, I learnt a lot but I am glad its over”
