‘Boro boss Spencer Day demanded a response from his troops after Tuesday nights disappointing showing against Bath City and was delighted with the reaction, as ‘Boro convincingly put Weston-Super-Mare to the sword.

Leyton Orient youngster Harry Lee went into the starting line up at the expense of Dan Bennett, and ‘Boro were still without the services of Reece Connolly who is sidelined with an abdominal injury. Adam Doyle and Alfred Bosch also returned to the squad for ‘Boro.

Dave Tarpey put ‘Boro ahead on the 20 minute mark and ‘Boro grew in confidence throughout the half, Josh Huggins doubling the advantage two minutes before the break, the black mark in the first half was a back injury sustained by Phil Page who was replaced by Bennett on 35 minutes.

Tarpey added his second on 50 minutes, and you could see him grow in confidence through the ninety minutes.

Just shy of the hour mark, and ‘Boro’s top scorer Scott Donnelly added a fourth, which despite further chances proved to be the final goal of the contest.

Spencer Day was delighted with the result: “We played some fabulous football throughout the ninety minutes and really should have added to the score, Harry Lee was excellent, and it was good to see Dave Tarpey return to goalscoring ways.”

‘Boro now face a trip to Maidenhead United on Tuesday night, before taking on Eastleigh who were leapfrogged by Bromley at the top of the table following their draw today with Sutton United.
