Sutton United got payback on the defeat in the return fixture just a month ago with a 3-1 victory played in difficult conditions.

Marvin Williams put the visitors ahead on five minutes when he capitalised on a mix up in the box, sliding the ball past stand in keeper Nic Ciardini who lost his footing on the slippery surface.

Phil Page scored his first goal since returning to the club on52 minutes, his deft header flicked on past the despairing reach of former ‘Boro loanee Tom Lovelock.

Just two minutes later and Sutton regained the lead, Sam Rents putting the visitors ahead.

On 65 minutes Marvin Williams second goal of the afternoon wrapped the game up for Sutton.

‘Boro boss Spencer Day was upbeat despite the defeat “Two key moments that if we had a recognised goalkeeper have really changed the game, I thought we passed the ball well, and played in good areas, and despite the defeat, overall I am happy with the performance.”
