It was a 50% hit rate on Wednesday as ‘Boro’s academy teams recorded a win and a loss.

The English Colleges team opened up their campaign away at Merrist Wood College and after weathering an early storm took the lead ten minutes in the second half when Aspuri Gurung showed great composure when put through one on one with the keeper.

The lead though only lasted 60 seconds as Merrist Wood hit back whilst ‘Boro were still celebrating.

Five minutes later and the hosts scored the decisive goal.

It was a solid performance from a team which has not played too much competitive football of late.

The Football Conference Youth Alliance side travelled to Hampton & Richmond and recorded their first win of the season, courtesy of Courtney Fear’s solitary strike.

Having secured a place in the 2nd Round Qualifying of the FA Youth Cup courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Newport Pagnell Town, ‘Boro take on Hartley Wintney at Paddy Power Park on Thursday 10th October, kick off 7.45pm.

The winner of this tie will play Thame United or Christchurch at home in the 3rd Round Qualifying.
