‘Boro boss Spencer Day has added to the squad ahead of Thursday’s deadline with the loan signing of Portsmouth midfielder Jed Wallace and Bahamian international Cameron Hepple.
Local lad Wallace, who turns 18 next week, is no stranger to the club, having made his name in the youth team at The Rushmoor Stadium two seasons ago, making a handful of first team appearances under then manager Steve King.
He signed for Portsmouth in August 2011, and has been a regular in the Academy set up since joining.
Day commented, “Jed has been keen to return and see some competitive action, he is well known at the club, and I am pleased to get him in for the season’s run in.”
Twenty three year old Hepple who can operate as a wide player on either side or as a striker has 14 full caps for the Bahamas’ having also played for their Under 17, 20 and 23 sides.
His last club was Albanian Premier Division outfit KF Tirana for whom he played in this seasons UEFA Europa League.
Day added “we were approached yesterday by Cameron’s representatives, he comes with an impressive CV but we have not had the chance to have a first-hand look at him, and with the registration period closing on Thursday, we will take a gamble and this may be an arrangement which will benefit both parties.”
Wallace will go straight into the squad for tomorrow night’s Blue Square South match against Dover Athletic, whilst Hepple is still subject to International Clearance from the FA, although his registration has been received by the Conference, and he will be permitted to play for the club even if this is sanctioned after Thursday’s 5pm deadline.
