The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity.

Football by nature of the beast has a habit of drawing out supporters when times are at their best.

A little under a year ago, Cherrywood Road was filled to the near completed rafters with supporters for the Blue Square South Play off final.

On Saturday, Farnborough host a match which quite possibly has more magnitude than that day back in May 2011.

Manager Spencer Day has on numerous occasions lauded the efforts of the die hard Farnborough support, ofter referring to them as the “12th man”

Midweek results have been good to the club, with both our opponents at the weekend Havant & Waterlooville and fellow strugglers Hampton & Richmond both losing.

In the words of the Boys of the PRE it really is “The final countdown”

Saturday’s match may not decide the fate of the club, but victory could go a long way towards the final outcome.

Re-read the quote at the top of this page, were you here when promotion to the Conference National was a close as 90 minutes away? What is stopping you coming along on Saturday and being part of a friendly, yet partisan crowd, urging the team on to a much needed three points.

The club have again held the reduced prices for this match, entry price now of many clubs at Step 3 of the pyramid, the level we do not want to be participating in come August.

The players going out on Saturday afternoon were all part of the squad which enjoyed the tremendous six match winning streak, which without, well it goes without saying.

They have toiled both on match days and at training to do the best for our club, only for five of those hard earned points to be cruelly ripped away at the last knockings of the season.

On Saturday evening, whatever the outcome on the pitch, is the clubs end of season event, The Farnies, its your chance to mingle with the players, recount some of the events of 2011-12, and to thank the players and backroom staff for their efforts.

Put the date in the diary, spread the word, share on facebook, tweet, text your friends………¬†lets give ourselves every fighting chance

We hope to see you here on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
