‘Boro’s Academy & Youth sides both opened up their league campaigns today, the academy travelling to East Berkshire (Windsor) in the English College’s Football League & the Youth at home to Ascot United in the Allied Counties Youth League.

The Academy side went down by the odd goal in five to an East Berkshire side which is linked to Hayes & Yeading, the two sides played out a pre season friendly just six weeks ago when ‘Boro fell to a 7-1 defeat, so a marked improvement was made in a short space of time.

Elliott Kaldjob put ‘Boro ahead on ten minutes, but two East Berkshire goals ten minutes before the break saw the home side go in at half time with their noses in front.

The hosts extended their lead ten minutes into the second period, and Ryam McGuire’s goal in the 88th minute proved to be just a consolation for ‘Boro.

Academy manager Koo Dumbuya commented “We didnt pass the ball as we as we can in the first half, but there was a marked improvement in the second. The boys development is noticeable day by day.”

The Youth team opened up their league season with a comfortable 5-0 home win against Ascot United.

Some crisp football saw ‘Boro race to a 4-0 half time lead with goals from Jamie McDonald and Courtney Fearn seperated by a brace from Lennox Phillips.

A half time deluge dampened the second half performance, but Sebastien Costello added a fifth in the second half to secure a resounding victory.

Commenting on the performance Coach Keith Hills said ” We were very satisfied with tonights performance, the first half was excellent, and only the change of weather in the second half which affected the playing surface restricted us from pushing on, each and every lad put a shift in tonight and that is the stall we set out, it is going to be an enjoyable season ahead and we look forward now to next weeks FA Youth Cup tie at Thatcham Town”.

The academy side are back in action next Wednesday (September 19th)  when they host Guildford County School at Bisley, kick off at 2pm.

On the same evening it’s FA Youth Cup action, ‘Boro travelling to Thatcham Town in the 1st Round Qualifying, kick off at 7.45pm.
