Pre-season friendly: Farnborough 1-2 Wycombe Wanderers
Spencer Day’s outfit put in a committed, wholehearted, performance against League opposition to kick off their pre-season campaign in spirited fashion.
A brace from Wanderers’ top scorer last term, Stuart Beavon, saw Gary Waddock’s men take the spoils. Phil Page’s strike, in between the two from Beavon, kept the tie alive right until the final whistle but despite the result, boss Day was pleased with what he saw.
“The first game of a new season is always exciting and with so many new faces out there it was going to be an exercise of finding our feet as quickly as possible,” he commented.
“I thought we battled hard against a team who will be looking to make in-roads in League Two over the course of the next ten months, so it was a good test for us first up.
“Phil took his goal well, the guys who were here last season that have remained led well and the new boys also gave it everything. We’re pleased with how things went but there is plenty to work on going forward. We have Aldershot here on Tuesday night, so it’ll be a quick turnaround as we get back into the swing of playing regularly.”
Kick off on Tuesday night is at 7.45pm, with ticket prices set at £10 for adults, £7 concession and just a £1 for U16s. U6s will be admitted for free.
