A DEMANDING schedule of eight games in four weeks gets underway on Saturday as ‘Boro entertain Boreham Wood (kick-off 3.00pm).

It’s a crucial phase of the season and fans’ favourite, Nic Ciardini can’t wait to get stuck into it.

“There are a lot of games coming up, which we are really looking forward to,” said the attack-minded midfielder who returned for his second spell at the club in February. “It will all come down to which clubs prepare the best for them. I know that we will be fully focused and ready to do a professional job.

“The games come so thick and fast that there will be no hiding place for those players and teams who don’t prepare in the right way.
“For me personally, I am really looking forward to the two games against Basingstoke Town [on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day] as I am from the area, but obviously I want to do well in every game that I am involved in and help us add to our points tally.

“This is a close League and we want to continue our momentum and see where it takes us. I feel that we can really push on and challenge for the play-offs in the second half of the season.

“I have my own targets in mind, but I don’t want to reveal them until they have been achieved!”

Ciardini also believes that the ‘Boro supporters have a big part to play in our festive battles.

“The fans have been great and certainly make a lot of noise,” he added. “We’re playing a better brand of football this year and making games more enjoyable.

“The fans have a key role to play and we need them right behind us for the challenges that lie ahead.”
