The Farnborough Celebrity XI overcame a 5-0 deficit to come back level and win 5-4 on penalties in yesterdays Celebrity Charity match against Essex United.

Pictures of the event will be uploaded soon.

Mark Wright’s Essex United romped into a five goal lead, but were pegged back level just before the end of the game.

The home celebrity team prevailed in the penalty shoot out, with Kevin Cooper slotting home the winning goal.

Over 900 supporters came out to to support the day, which was raising money for both “Irene Living with Cancer” and “Saving Tiny Lives” the Special Care Baby Unit of Frimley Park Hospital.

The monies are being reconciled, and will be passed onto the respective charities in due course.

On a sad note, Irene Grinham who gave her name to one of the charities, succumbed to the illness earlier today, her family were able to relay to her the events of yesterday, and she was fully aware of the great comeback shown by the Farnborough Celebrity XI.

On behalf of Farnborough FC we pass on our sincere condolences to the Grinham family at this sad time.
