WITH the dust now settling on Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat at Woking, ‘Boro boss, Spencer Day has reflected upon our 7-0 reverse.

“The biggest disappointment for me was that we didn’t show people how good we are,” he told us. “You could say that we had ‘one of those days’.

“It was disappointing that it happened against our local rivals, but at the same time you have to give credit to Woking for the way in which they performed on the day.

“When we conceded an own goal within the opening five minutes, it was always going to be difficult and so it proved.

“Every team has a bad day at sometime or other, whether you are Manchester United or Farnborough. It happens in football, but it certainly doesn’t make it any easier to swallow.

“I wish we had a game sooner to get it out of our system, but the majority of the first-team squad will be on duty for our reserve team game, ironically against Woking, at the weekend as our scheduled first-team match against Chelmsford City has been postponed due to their continued involvement in the FA Cup.

“We have some difficult games coming up and the job of the coaching staff and I is to get the players well prepared and ready for the next set of challenges that lie ahead.”
