HAVING got his name on the scoresheet at Bromley last weekend, Nic Ciardini, is full of confidence as we prepare to face Boreham Wood on Saturday (kick-off 3.00pm).
“We worked hard during the first half on Saturday and deserved to go in at the break two goals to the good,” said the 24 year-old. “I felt that we played some good football and controlled the game for long periods.
“It was a fully deserved win in the end and gives us something to build upon as we return to home soil against Boreham Wood.”
Both teams go into the game on 27 points, so a keenly-contested encounter is in prospect as we look to avenge the 3-1 away defeat that we suffered in September.
“Despite the scoreline, it was a close game at their place earlier in the season,” recalled the fans’ favourite. “Hopefully we can carry on where we left off on Saturday and get some points on the board.
“Like us, they are up there within the leading pack but have had a bit of a wobble recently, so we’ll be looking to take advantage of that.
“As a team I feel that we have maybe over-achieved a little so far this season. There has been the odd game where we have let ourselves down, but we’ve always managed to bounce straight back in the next game.
“From a personal point of view, I am enjoying playing in a more attacking role this season. It’s good to be playing regularly as part of a really attack-minded and energetic group that will always create chances and score goals.
“I feel that the League is slightly weaker than it has been in previous years. There are a group of four or five teams who are trying to break away with the rest fairly evenly matched with everyone capable of beating each other.
“The teams who are the most consistent will rise to the top and hopefully we can be part of that. We’ve got a young side here, but we are gelling together all of the time.”
