‘Boro travel to Alwyns Lane on Saturday to take on Manager Spencer Day’s former club Chertsey Town.
Chertsey play in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central, where the finished last season in 17th spot.
Commenting ahead of a return to his former charges, ‘Boro boss Day said “We will be taking the full first team to Chertsey on Saturday.
As many of you know I left Chertsey for Farnborough in November and brought Dan Bennett, Phil Page, Oli Treacher and Miles Smith as well as my coaching team with me.
As much as this was nothing strange in football it was a very difficult decision for me and after nearly five years left my former club with a ‘transitional period’.
I hope as many of you as possible will travel the short distance to the game to support both clubs.
Tickets are set at £6 for adults with further concessions and it will show a fantastic non league spirit to support a local club that have helped considerably with survival of the team last season in the BSS.
Chertsey Town FC is a fantastic Step 4 Club and I am sure that they will appreciate everyone of you that turns up and you are sure of a welcome reception.”
‘Boro Chief Executive Steve Duly re-enforced Day’s sentiments “‘Boro fans know from personal experience the turmoil generated when a club loses a number of key players after the departure of a manager. Although before my time back at the club, I know that despite the massive impact losing not only the management team but also a number of key players, Chertsey Town conducted themselves in a professional manner throughout, it would be good to see a healthy number of ‘Boro supporters make the relatively short journey to Alwyns Lane, we know the importance of pre season revenue to assist in a clubs sustainability and I am sure Chertsey would appreciate a bumper crowd for the occasion.”
The club can also confirm that a further pre season friendly has been added, with a Brighton & Hove Albion XI travelling to The Rushmoor Stadium on Wednesday 8th August.
This means plenty of football for the ‘Boro faithful as Brighton’s near neighbours Lewes provide the opposition just 24 hours earlier.
Tickets for the Brighton & Hove Albion match are priced at:
