‘Boro’s Youth team progressed to the 2nd Round Qualifying of the FA Youth Cup with a 5-2 away victory at Thatcham Town.

Thatcham struck first but Sam De St Croix restored parity before the break.

Ben Myers put ‘Boro ahead but Thatcham levelled proceedings soon after.

In what was ironically ‘Boro’s least effective segment of the game, they scored three times to put the tie to bed, De St Croix putting ‘Boro 3-2 ahead before a Lennox Phillips goal took the tie awy from Thatcham.

It was left for Sam De St Croix to put the final nail in Thatcham’s coffin with a fine strike from a free kick completing his hat trick and the hosts misery.

Michael Dart was outstanding at the back for ‘Boro who now face a home tie against either Alton Town or Ardley United on Wednesday 10th October.

Manager Steve Pearman commented “We are delighted to have progressed to the next round, although if we are to be a little critical the performance was not as clinical as that against Ascot in the league last week.”

Earlier in the day the Academy team went down 2-0 against Guildford County School in the English Colleges Football League at Bisley.
